Features and Benefits

Coupling compactness with ruggedness for automotive safety applications offers a robust solution

Meeting the challenges of space-constrained designs, the MXP120 1.20mm Automotive Sealed Connector delivers a 4.00mm-pitch, single-row system with sealed crimp technology that protects the connection even in harsh environments. Our yellow connector allows for automakers to clearly identify the safety connector.

Delivers a small package and high current rating

The 1.20mm cavity offers a smaller packaging size compared to 1.50mm cavities, along with a greater current-carrying capacity and robustness compared to a 0.64mm solution.

Industry specifications and validations

Compatible with AK and meeting GMW3191 specifications, the MXP120 1.20mm Automotive Sealed Connector System is specifically designed to meet the requirements of European, Chinese and US automotive markets.

Male blade connectors with Primary Lock Reinforcement (PLR):
Ensures efficient terminal positioning and detection of partial installation of terminals

Space-saving 1.20mm terminals in a 4.00mm pitch:
• Meets power requirements up to 13.0A
• Suitable for sealed safety-restraint, body electronics and powertrain applications

Shrouded Female Receptacles:
• Medium shroud for direct connections and long shroud for a wire-to-wire (1x4 or larger)
• Short shroud for 1x2 and 1x3
• Ensures all circuit sizes and keying options are scoop proof

Ergonomic and robust connector position assurance (CPA):
• Enlarged CPA vs. competitor versions, for superior ergonomics
• Robust CPA design limits the risks of breakage (during handling/wires snagging) or pre-seating (of itself) prior to connector mating.
• CPA actuation is a one-step process to minimize assembly operation.
• After connector mating, the CPA and integral latch combine to stabilize the connector interface without any impact to mating force.

Female receptacles with Independent Secondary Locking (ISL):
Ensures efficient terminal positioning and detection of partial installation of terminals

Single wire seal (SWS) connection system with robust perimeter seal:
• Is IPX8 rated. IPX9K under evaluation
• Withstands high-pressure spray environments

Reduced package size when compared to existing 1.50mm connection systems:
Offers significant space savings for confined design parameters

Male blade connectors utilize a preassembled front-loaded primary lock reinforcement (PLR), also known as terminal position assurance (TPA):
• Helps to minimize the number of components, making this connector very price competitive
• Improves terminal servicing
• Checks finger position of terminal latch and reinforces terminal retention

Accommodates wire gauges up to 1.00mm²:
Limits connector pitch to 4.00mm with SWS

Compatible with AK and GMW3191 interfaces; designed using worldwide AK cavity definition:
Confirms global acceptance and marketability

Integral locking latch and bridge protection:
Fully protected latch with integral bridge for reliable and efficient connector locking

Receptacle connectors utilize a preassembled, side-loaded independent secondary lock (ISL):
• Improves terminal servicing
• Checks correct terminal position and reinforces primary terminal retention

Overview

Automotive and commercial vehicle makers face tighter space requirements for safety-restraint, body electronics and powertrain applications. The MXP120 1.20mm Automotive Sealed Connector System provides up to 13.0A power in a compact package size that meets GMW specifications. The use of 1.20mm terminals minimizes the connector interface and connector package size versus larger 1.50mm terminals while offering more current-carrying capacity and robustness in assembly than is possible with the use of 0.64mm terminal systems.
